Understanding the 'Split bundle products during Pick & Pack' Setting in ChannelDock
When using ChannelDock's Pick & Pack feature, the 'Split bundle products during Pick & Pack' setting plays a critical role in determining how bundles are scanned. This guide explains how this global setting works and what users need to know to manage bundle product scanning effectively.
What Does the Setting Do?
The 'Split bundle products during Pick & Pack' setting controls whether a bundle product can be scanned as a single unit using its barcode or requires scanning each component of the bundle individually.
When the Setting is Disabled: A bundle product is treated as a single unit. You can scan the barcode of the bundle to complete the scanning process for that item.
When the Setting is Enabled: The bundle is split into its individual components. You must scan each child product's barcode separately. For example, if a bundle contains multiple units of the same product, you will need to scan the barcode for that product the required number of times to account for all units.
Key Constraints and Limitations
The 'Split bundle products during Pick & Pack' setting is global, meaning it applies to all bundle products in your inventory. You cannot configure it to treat different bundles differently. For instance, you cannot set some bundles to scan as a single item while requiring others to scan each of their components.
Where to enable / disable the setting
Go to Orders -> Pick and Pack
Go to the setting on the top right of your screen
Enable or Disable the setting, depending on which option you like better
Workaround for Split Bundles
If the 'Split bundle products during Pick & Pack' setting is enabled and you need to scan each product within a bundle individually, consider planning the scanning process accordingly and ensure that individual product barcodes are easily accessible during Pick & Pack.
Practical Tips
Review your inventory and consider whether your workflow benefits more from the setting being enabled or disabled. For users frequently dealing with pre-packaged bundles, disabling the setting may streamline the process.
Train your Pick & Pack operators to handle either scenario effectively, depending on the enabled setting, to minimize errors and delays.
