You can change stock manually for one product, update stock in bulk via Excel, move stock between locations, receive goods through inbound deliveries, or remove stock through outbound deliveries.
1. Change stock for one product
This is the most common way to update the stock of a single product.
Go to Inventory → Products and open the product you want to update and click the green Change stock amount button.
A popup will open where you can choose the stock location and update the stock amount.
You can use one of the following options:
Option | Use this when |
Correct | You want to set the stock to an exact number - For example, if ChannelDock shows 45 items in stock, but the actual stock is 50, you can use Correct to set the stock directly to 50. |
Adjust | You want to add or subtract stock - For example, if you received 10 extra items, you can adjust the stock by If 5 items are missing, you can adjust the stock by |
Transfer | You want to move stock from one location to another - For example, you can move 20 items from a bulk location to a pick location. You can also add extra information, such as an expiration date, batch ID, or an inventory log message. |
When you are done, click Update stock.
2. Change stock from Stock locations
If you work with stock locations, such as warehouse sections, shelves, bins, or pick locations, you can also update stock from the stock locations page.
Go to Inventory → Stock locations.
Find the product at the correct location and click the edit icon.
This opens the same stock update popup, already linked to that product and location.
This is useful when you want to update stock for a specific warehouse location.
3. Move stock with Stock transfer
If you want to move stock between locations in a guided way, you can use the Stock transfer page.
Go to Inventory → Stock transfer.
Follow the steps to select the source location, destination location, products, and quantities.
This option is useful for warehouse movements, for example when moving stock from a bulk location to a pick location.
For a quick one-product transfer, you can also use the Transfer option in the stock update popup.
4. Update stock via Excel import
You can also update stock in ChannelDock by importing an Excel or CSV file.
This is useful when you want to update stock for many products at once. ChannelDock supports files such as .xlsx, .xls, and .csv.
There are two main ways to update stock via Excel:
Option A: Update product stock
Use this option when you want to update the No location stock (general stock amount of products). This is usually based on the product EAN or SKU.
Go to Inventory → Products → More actions and choose Export if you first want to download your current product list.
Open the file in Excel and update or add the Stock column.
Make sure the file also contains an EAN or SKU, so ChannelDock can match the rows to the correct products.
After editing the file, go back to Inventory → Products → More actions and choose Import. Upload your spreadsheet and map the correct columns.
At minimum, you need to map:
Column | Required? | Purpose |
EAN or SKU | Yes | Used to match the row to the correct product |
Stock | Yes | The new stock amount |
After mapping the columns, verify the import and start the import.
The stock amount in the file will be used as the new stock value. This means it is a correction to the stock amount, not a plus or minus adjustment.
For example, if the file says stock is 50, ChannelDock will set the stock to 50.
Option B: Update stock per stock location
Use this option when you work with stock locations and want to update stock per location.
Go to Inventory → Stock locations. Use the import option on that page to upload your Excel or CSV file.
Your file should contain at least:
Column | Purpose |
Stock location | The warehouse location or stock section |
EAN or SKU | Used to match the product |
Stock amount | The stock amount for that location |
You can also include extra columns, such as the warehouse name or whether the location should be included in stock sync, depending on your setup. After uploading the file, map the columns and start the import.
This updates the stock for the product at the selected location. If the location line does not exist yet, ChannelDock can create it during the import.
You can also export stock locations first, edit the file in Excel, and then import it again.
5. Bulk stock correction
You can also use the bulk stock correction option from the Products page.
Go to Inventory → Products → More actions and choose Stock correction.
This option allows you to correct stock for multiple products from the ChannelDock interface.
This is useful when you want to quickly correct multiple stock amounts without using an Excel import.
6. Receive stock through inbound deliveries
When new goods arrive from a supplier, you can process them through inbound deliveries.
Go to Inventory → Deliveries. Create or process an inbound delivery.
Once the delivery is marked as stocked, the received quantities are added to your warehouse stock.
If you use stock locations, you can also add the stock to the correct stock section.
If needed, you can include batch or expiration date information during the receiving process.
Stock from open inbound deliveries may also appear in the stock history as incoming or “in delivery” stock before it is fully received.
7. Remove stock through outbound deliveries
Stock can also be changed through outbound deliveries.
An outbound delivery is used when goods leave the warehouse outside of the normal order flow.
For example, this can be used when stock is sent to another warehouse, fulfillment center, store, or external location.
Go to Inventory → Deliveries. Create or process an outbound delivery.
When the outbound delivery is processed, the selected quantities are removed from your warehouse stock.
If you use stock locations, the stock is deducted from the selected stock section.
Outbound deliveries are useful when you want to remove stock from ChannelDock without linking it to a customer order.
8. Automatic stock changes
Stock can also change automatically in ChannelDock.
This can happen when:
Situation | What happens |
Orders are shipped | Stock is reduced |
Orders are cancelled | Stock is added back |
Returns are restocked | Stock can be added back |
External integrations update stock | Stock can be changed automatically |
API connections update stock | Stock can be changed by custom tools or integrations |
Examples of external integrations include WMS, ERP, marketplace, or fulfillment integrations.
Important: update stock in ChannelDock
If ChannelDock syncs stock to your webshop or marketplaces, you should update the stock in ChannelDock.
Do not change the stock directly in your webshop or marketplace, because those changes can be overwritten by the next stock sync from ChannelDock.
ChannelDock should be treated as the source of truth for your stock.
Bundle products
Stock for bundle products is calculated based on the stock of the products inside the bundle.
This means you cannot directly change the stock of a bundle product. Instead, you need to update the stock of the individual products that are part of the bundle.
Important Excel tips
When working with Excel imports, keep the following points in mind:
Tip | Why it matters |
Format EAN and UPC columns as text | Excel can otherwise change long numbers into scientific notation |
Do not use a | This is not supported in imports |
Use “Skip first row” if your file has headers | This prevents the header row from being imported as data |
Check your column mapping carefully | Incorrect mapping can update the wrong data |
Use ChannelDock as the source of truth | If stock sync is enabled, webshop stock can be overwritten by ChannelDock |
